Abstract:
This layer consists of the RPA buffer, defined as a 100-ft wide buffer landward of RPA features including wetlands and streams connected by surface flow to the Chesapeake Bay and/or tidal shores, except for the City of Virginia Beach and Arlington County, who also include slope variables into the RPA buffer definition. Individual localities' data varies in age and delineation approach. This layer was processed to depict only the 100-ft upland edge of localities' RPA's in order to capture just the 100-ft buffer, not RPA features like wetlands and streams. In localities with no GIS RPA delineated, the upland edge of all connected wetlands was buffered.
Purpose:
This layer depicts the approximate location of the Chesapeake Bay Resource Protection Area (RPA) 100-ft buffer for coastal Virginia localities.
