For each row in the table, the minimum and maximum salinity values, and the bottom salinity value were calculated. The tables were converted to point shape files. </stepDesc>

<stepDesc>A Thiessen polygon template of the Chesapeake Bay was generated from the point shape files. Each polygon contains one point and the polygons boundaries are eqidistant from immediately adjacent points. Chesapeake Bay shoreline developed by the Center for Coastal Resources Management (CCRM) at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science was used to clip the Thiessen polygon template to the boundaries of the Chesapeake Bay. Each salinity point shapefile was converted to a polygon shapefile using the Thiessen template of the Bay.</stepDesc>
