The shoreline delineated from 2009, 2011, and 2013 VBMP imagery. Fetch was determined in 16 directions for points every 25m along Gloucester's tidal shoreline. Exposure values were recorded onto points along a shoreline created from the VBMP imagery. &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/DIV&gt;</idAbs>

<stepDesc>Using ArcGIS version 10.1 ArcMAP, the shoreline is dissolved into one shoreline arc. Points are created every 25 m along the line feature. These points are used to split the shoreline. A centerpoint is created for each 25m line segment. The center points are used as input into a model (written in arc macro language (aml) and run with workstation ArcInfo) that calculates fetch in 16 cardial directions.</stepDesc>

<stepDesc> For each shoreline point, coordinate geometry was used to create a rosette of sixteen arcs originating from the point and extending out in 16 directions (N, NNE, NE, ENE, E, ESE, SE, SSE, S, SSW, SW, WSW, W, WNW, NW, NNW) for 5 meters. Points were analyzed individually. The resulting rosettes were combined (using the identity command) with a land/water coverage, providing each directional line with either a land or a water value.</stepDesc>

Exposure was classified as low (&lt;804.67 m or 0.5 mi), moderate (804.67 - 3218.69m or 0.5 - 2 mi), and high (ge 3218.69m or &gt;2 mi).</stepDesc>
